From an 1840s pub to family-run shops, this building situated in the heart of Rugby is now reimagined as a supported living scheme, continuing its legacy by providing safe, secure, long-term homes for those who need them most.
The Challenge
This building has been part of Rugby’s story since the 1840s. It began life as The Dun Cow, a local pub at the heart of the community. Over the years, it became many things — a dancewear shop, a family-run reptile and aquatic centre, and more. Each chapter reflected the needs of the town at the time.
By the 2020s, the property was empty and derelict. Yet its location was prime — right in the heart of Rugby, close to shops, transport, the hospital, and major employers.
Our vision was to give this landmark a new purpose. We set out to create a 14-bed supported living scheme. A place that is safe, secure, and long-term for its residents. A project that serves both the community and our investors.
The Transformation
Through a full redevelopment and thoughtful design, we reimagined the building into a modern supported living scheme.
We added a loft to maximise space, upgraded to full compliance, and set it up for a supported living operator partnership. The result is a purpose built 14 bed scheme that keeps its community character and provides long term, secure accommodation in Rugby town centre.
The scheme is still under refurbishment, with final photos and updates to be shared once the project is complete.
Project Lawford Phase 1 is part of our wider regeneration of the block, with Phase 2 continuing the journey.
